Sheep husbandry and lambing weeks Two day courses in 2012 : the 22nd and 23rd Feb 2012 The 25th and 26th Feb 2012 and the 27th and 28th Feb 2012 These course are available for groups or families to either block book or come as individuals and attend the Lambing and Sheep husbandry course. The course costs £150 per person for a two day course. Dates in April and May 2012 can be arranged by contacting us directly. Accommodation is avaiable for £25 per per person per day and residential students are encouraged to stay until they feel confident to handle and lamb sheep on their own
The aim of these courses is to learn the basics of sheep husbandry, and the latest techniques for lambing, lamb resuscitation, and lamb survival. After completing this weeks course, you will be able to care for your sheep correctly and be confident to lamb your own sheep to gain the maximum number of lambs possible. These courses are available for people of all ages and abilities, it covers the theory and practice that is required to shepherd flocks of all types and sizes. These can be useful for keeping children occupied when mum and dad are relaxing or making preparations for the day ahead. Walking and ClimbingThe Western lakes and fells are ideal areas for walkers and climbers, largely unspoilt Wasdale, Ennerdale and Blengdale our own virtually unknown valley provide lovely areas for both the serious climber and the holiday maker just wanting to relax in beautiful surroundings.
Sheep husbandry and lambing weeks
Two weeks are available in the year (see tariff) for groups or families to either block book or come as individuals (A minimum of 6 individuals are required for the course to progress). Other family members are welcome The aim of these courses is to learn the basics of sheep husbandry, and the latest techniques for lambing, lamb resuscitation, and lamb survival. These courses are available for people of all ages and abilities, it covers the theory and practice that is required to shepherd flocks of all types and sizes. One or two day introduction to dry stone walling courses are available on demand at £150 per day usually on a one to one basis or £80 per day for two people sharing
Hedge Laying Three day introduction to hedge laying and advanced hedge laying courses can be arranged to suit individual and group requirments Students will learn the art of hedge laying by hand or with the use of a chain saw if they hold a suitable chain saw certificate. Students will learn to lay hedges in the Cumbrian style but will also be able to recognise the different styles pertaining to different areas in the
